Hello, everyone. I’m Zhao Ruifeng, a research student from empowerment
science lab. I hope you are all keeping well. Today, I am very pleased
to share with you the discussion of the 2nd childcare power-up workshop.

The theme of this meeting is Support methods that can empower children,
parents and professionals. And we focused on the flexible use of five
empowerment support tools. First, Aoki sensei made an opening speech to
announce the beginning of the meeting. Then Anme sensei’s warm greeting
introduced me to learned about the history of Childcare Power-up and its
Next, Sakai sensei gave an overview of the five tools, including Developmental
assessment tool, Children’s education environment evaluation tool, Close
to confused children support tool, Childcare environment evaluation tool
and social skill evaluation tool. We learned the content and characteristics
of each tool from Sakai sensei's introduction.

In the group discussion stage, Aoki sensei introduced five groups and then
guided the participants to enter the corresponding group. I joined the childcare
novitiates group. In this group, Kato sensei gave us a detailed introduction
about Developmental assessment tool. Through Kato sensei's explanation,
I learned that children's development can be divided into three areas, namely
motor development, social development and language development. In addition,
through the example of a three-year-old boy, I learned how to use the
Developmental assessment tool flexibly. At the end of the group discussion,
Sakai sensei and Kato sensei cleared up various questions.

Back to the main meeting, Tanaka sensei used an example of a two-year-old
child to vividly introduce how tools can be used together. In this process,
Tanaka sensei proposed that we can use a variety of tools to identify
the real needs of children. Moreover, during the practice and evaluation phases,
we can find more appropriate and efficient methods through the combination
of tools and better feedback to the child's development.

At the end of the meeting, everyone expressed their views and impressions on
the five tools. In my opinion, understanding the meaning and use of each tool
and being able to skillfully use tools is an important part of research work.
What I learned from this meeting is that the development and advanced
use of these tools are of great value to childcare-research and to help children

We all enjoyed the workshop today and look forward to the next one!

Hello, everyone. I’m Pei Yu, a research student from empowerment
science lab. Due to the serious situation of COVID-19, our
Empowerment Café was still held online. I hope all of you
can keep healthy. And it’s my honor to share the Empowerment
Café on November 19th with you.
The main theme of the Empowerment café on November 19th
is "thinking about bullying and suicide prevention in school,
empowering children's minds".

The theme of the first half is "bullying in schools". Tachikawa
sensei first explained the decline of school students' cognition
of bullying and the rise of suicide rate through charts, to explain
the definition of "bullying". Then he illustrates the situation of
child suicide is caused by bullying in different periods and the
resulting changes, and emphasizes the "promotion of
countermeasures to prevent bullying" launched in 2011. After
that, Tachikawa sensei lists the occurrence principles and
countermeasures of bullying by different researchers, as well
as the psychological development stages of children
and young people, and emphasizes that "school" and "partner
group" are important parts of bullying. In addition, Tachikawa
sensei also took the problem of bullying and suicide in Toride
City as an example to illustrate the method of background
Investigation of suicide.
The theme of the second half is "children's suicide". First,
Tachikawa sensei listed the changes in suicide rates of various
ages in different years and the changes in the number of suicides
of children in different months of 2020, to put forward the risk
factors and protective factors of young people's suicide. Next,
he put forward the hypothesis of suicide, including the three
necessary conditions for suicide, and stressed that young people
are at high risk of suicide. After that, he explained the difference
between suicide and self-mutilation. Then, as for the countermeasures
to prevent suicide, the state has put forward a comprehensive strategy
outline, schools should pay attention to the popularization of SOS
knowledge, and people need to adjust their bad emotions through
appropriate methods in life. What’s more, Tachikawa sensei cited
several examples of knowledge education on suicide prevention,
and emphasized the premise of this education. At the same time,
he also elaborated the risk assessment and countermeasures of suicide.
In addition, Tachikawa sensei gave examples to illustrate the causes
and principles of suicide by using the actual situation of COVID-19.
At the end, Tachikawa sensei summarizes the current situation
of child bullying and suicide, including the increasing number of
bullying and suicide, and the background theory and countermeasures
are not perfect. Meanwhile, Tachikawa sensei proposed that
the psychological problems caused by COVID-19 are likely to
lead to suicide. With regard to the countermeasures against bullying
and suicide, schools are still important places. At the same time,
the attention and support of schools are very important for children
and should be paid attention to.
Through this study, we know that bullying and suicide have
occurred in many places, and the impact can not be underestimated.
What's more, this study is of great necessity and importance,
and also has profound significance for the healthy growth of
children. Therefore, we must pay attention to the bullying and
suicide of children and young people, and actively practice
the countermeasures to prevent suicide. At the same time, it
is also necessary to study and popularize SOS education and
regularly provide psychological counseling to children.
In addition, we should try our best to help more children and
young people relieve psychological pressure, to reduce the
occurrence of bullying and suicide.
We all enjoyed the Café today and look forward to the next one!
