Memory of the Second Forum on Early Childhood Care and Development_1

We first would like to express our sincere sympathy for all those affected
by the severe damage from the typhoon that hit the Kanto region last weekend.

Today I would like to report the exciting meeting of The Second Forum on Early
Childhood Care and Development
held on 28th September in Shanghai.

It was my first time to attend this forum in which we introduced the studies
and practices on community-based child-rearing support in Japan.

Prof. Anme introduced the new childcare and development system adapted in Japan
while I introduced the study and practice using the Interaction Rating Scale (IRS).
Ms. Sakai then presented about the actual practices for child and rearer, whereas
Prof. Watanabe introduced our new partner, the empowerment icon our team
created "Ameri,"and the new project for professional empowerment.

During the Forum, the various presenters, officers, researchers, students, kindergarten
teachers, and other childcare professionals had quite an interesting and lively discussion.

Ms.Inokuma presented the Safety and Health Risk Prevention for Child Care Institutions
emphasizing on their critical importance, especially in early childcare.

The dynamics and passion of the participants were really exciting for us.

I feel deeply impressed that Dr.Lian Tong planned such as a meaningful forum with her
passion. I am also thankful for our alumni, Dr. Kim, MS Zyu, MS.Sun, MS Cheng, who
supported our presentation perfectly.

We Hope our challenges and collaborations can contribute to the empowerment of
children, families, as well as the childcare professionals themselves.

Welcome Party for New Research Students

Good afternoon everyone!

My name is Sana and I am one of the Master students at the Empowerment lab. I hope
you are all enjoying the changing colors of trees and are looking forward for this new
fall season.

With the start of the new semester, we had the pleasure to welcome two new members
to our Empowerment lab. Both Cho-san and Becky-san joined the Empowerment lab as
research students, and are planning to pursue their master's degree therein in the Spring
semester. Cho-san graduated with her bachelor's degree in psychology from China and is
interested in deepening her research skills in the field of school bullying; while Becky-san
graduated from Mongolia with a dental degree and would like to research Diabetes and other
non-communicable diseases as an extension for her studies.

As a welcome token, we held a special lunch party after our weekly seminar in which we all
got to eat and know one another a little bit more. During lunch, we enjoyed making onigiri
balls using our favorite rice from the Tobishima village (thank you very much Hattori-san!)
and a special seaweed we received as a gift from Ishinomski. The other members also
prepared special cakes for Cho-san and Becky-san as a welcome gift to the lab. After eating
the cake, we finally ended the party with the lab's signature picture of all members. We hope
the lunch party was enjoyable to our two new members and helped them have a smoother
transition to their new life in Tsukuba.

Once again, we welcome Cho-san and Becky-san to the Empowerment team and we hope for
both a bright future in their studies and research plans to empower the world!

Hello everyone, I am ZHANG, the research student in empowerment
sciences lab.

The weather is turning cooler, please be sure to keep warm and don’t
forget to take an umbrella on rainy days.

On October 4th, we participated in the Tsukuba Global Science Week
(TGSW), Tsukuba Conference of medical and life science. A wide
range of researchers and students from all over the world took part
in this conference.

In the morning, Anme-sensei and members of our lab participated in the
2-min presentation and everyone in our lab did a great presentation.
After lunch time, we attended the poster discussion session. It’s a good
chance to share the empowerment science through communicating with
other participants who are from different countries. Afterward, there’s
also special lecture by Dr. Thomas D. and Mayer from University of Tsukuba.
Before the conference, the members took a photo with Anme-sensei, and
everyone showed a smile of vitality.

For us, this is a great opportunity to practice the techniques of presentation
and to share Empowerment Science to other researchers. We would like to
thank Anme-sensei and the predecessors in our lab for their careful guidance
over the past months. It will be a memorable day in our university’s life.
