Welcome Party: Our new friend from Pakistan
Hello everyone, I’m Lee, the research student in empowerment lab.
With the sunshine in a deep autumn, the Tsukuba University campus
have become a colorful garden which reminds me of a Tagore’s verse
‘It is the tears of the earth that keep her smiles in bloom’.
After empowerment seminar on November 12th, we held an
unforgettable party to welcome our new member Amara-san
who is from Pakistan with her family and plans to finish her
PHD degree in our lab. In order to give her a warm feeling of
first time to our lab, we well-prepared every process of this
welcome party.
We were so excited even if it was so cold in the deep autumn.
Our lab members prepared a full delicious lunch for Amara-san.
We introduced ourselves one by one and everyone was enthusiastic
in having a wonderful collision of though with Amara-san in the
future’s research. We taught her how to make the Japanese rice
ball which best represented the Japanese culture.
Besides, Amara-san was so curious about the method for using
chopsticks and she was grateful for the wonderful food prepared today.
Then, we took a photo together which shows the beautiful
smile of everyone.

After lunch, we ate the nice cake together and communicated with
each other in a happy and warm atmosphere. According to the
Japanese traditional culture, we ended this party by the way of
continuous hand-clapping. Professor Anme told us that the clapping
was the blessing of hope, happiness and healthy. So, we hope
Amara-san will enjoy the happy life with her family in
Tsukuba University and get significant academic achievement
in the future.
Hello everyone, the weather got cold recently, please pay more attention
to your body.
I am M1 student Cui, I am very happy to introduce you to this
Alumni association and the 8th Empowerment Cafe.
In the Tokyo campus of Tsukuba University, we held an alumni association,
very happy with the previous graduates Mr. Tanaka, Ms. Kawamura ,
Ms. Hatsue Sakai and Mr. Gishu Sakai.
In this meeting, everyone of us draw a poster to introduce our studies
and future plans.
Then, our teacher and previous graduates made their comments to us.
Through this activity, we have understood each other's ideas, research
plans and future goals, and have narrowed each other's distances.
It has also clarified our goals.

After the end, we immediately stared the Empowerment Cafe.
This time we are very pleased to invite Mr. Tanaka and Ms. Hatsue Sakai
who have many years of experience in childcare.
Professor Tanaka introduced us to the importance of supporting for
children and families.
He told us why the support plan is needed, how to set up the support plan,
how to
cooperate with specialized agencies strongly.
And Professor Tanaka showed a paper called "Development Evaluation Indicator".
By using this we will grasp the current situation and issues of child-rearing.
The power for children to grow up, the ability for parents to nurture,
the force with which teachers are involved, the power to interact with
one another, these forces are very important and are thought to affect
each other.

And Ms. Hatsue Sakai introduced us to the current situation and issues
of childcare.
Today, the environment surrounding children and caretakers is
very prominent.
Relative poverty, society's disrespect, abuse, unstable employment,
etc. were mentioned as examples. AI, artificial intelligence was
introduced as an issue that seemed possible. I grow up with AI,
work in collaboration, accomplish the role sharing,
and are drawing attention now. However, it has drawbacks such as
low reading ability, inference, image fixing. So it seems that it is
still under consideration how artificial intelligence is useful for child rearing.

After the empowerment Cafe, we went to an information exchange party.
Chicken and seafood were very delicious. The last dessert sweet and delicious.
The teachers and the members talked about various topics. We had a good time.
Thank you very much for the professors and graduate`coming.

Hello, everyone! I am Xiao, the research student in our empowerment lab.
The weather becomes colder and colder these days, and I wish you all
can keep healthy.
In October 12th, Professor. Watanabe gave us a wonderful lecture about
the community empowerment and how to create a wonderful society.
In the beginning, Professor. Watanabe raised some examples about the
situation that social support to people in the area is inadequate and these
specific examples led to today's topic: the empowerment of local residents
and community.
To change the current situation, firstly it is important to notice the power
of a person. When something happened, it should not be the responsibility
of the person himself / herself but we should pay more attention to prepare
the environment in order to empower the residents. It's considered highly
important to create a society where everyone can live happily at any time.
To achieve this goal, we must focus on the creation of a healthy living environment.

If a healthy living environment can be created, it could be benefit for the
community empowerment. Besides, we also can accumulate power,
connect diverse ideas, exchange information, and people will also pay more
attention to the area.
Leadership is also necessary while creating such a society. Snowflake
leadership which leaders grow other rudders is considered the most wonderful.
Such leadership can enhance people's strength and lead to their well-being.
It was a very meaningful speech which made us understand the situation
of community empowerment.
We should use what we learned today in our research or studies.
Thanks again for Professor. Watanabe’s fascinating academic speech.
We all appreciate it sincearly.
